Steps of hope: Freedom in motion event
Art is a language that holds power to inspire, transform, and heal. On February 21st, 2025, from 6pm to 9pm, I am hosting an immersive artistic experience, Steps of Hope: Freedom in Motion, at 349 Division Ave S, Grand Rapids, MI. This event is more than just an art installation; it is a celebration of resilience, movement, and the human spirit to be free.
The Vision Behind the Event
As an artist deeply connected to Indigenous folk traditions, ancestral wisdom, and storytelling through visual art, I envisioned Steps of Hope as a space where art meets movement-where we step forward in unity, hope, and transformation. The theme of the night is woven into an oceanic winter aesthetic, representing both the stillness of introspection and the fluidity of change.
What to Expect
The evening will feature:
A storefront Window Art Installation- A visual narrative of motion, freedom, and resilience.
Poetry & Spoken Word- Voices sharing stories of hope, uniqueness, freestyle dialogues, and more.
Improvs- When music and artists emerge collectively, we let the instruments and vocals do their thang by allowing a space to connect and move with the sounds of music.
Drumming and music- Rhythms that connect us to ancestral roots and inner strength.
Food & Refreshments- A moment to share warmth and nourishment.
Supporting a Great Cause
This event is not just about artistic expression-it’s about making a real difference. 50% proceeds will be donated to charities and organizations with similar values, and thank you to Dwelling Place of Grand Rapids, for partnering with us to utilized one of their properties for this event.
This event is free for all. Donations are welcome!
